Somebody’s hands under the bar.
One-to-one strength coaching in Prestwich. The whole price is on this page and the programme is written down — and session one is a conversation and a warm-up, not a fitness test you can fail.

The programme
You leave with the card
Written down, in your handwriting or mine, with last week’s numbers next to this week’s. If a session cannot be written down before it starts, it was not a programme.
Plate maths
What goes on the bar
The maths you stop doing in your head after week two — written down because week one is the one that scares people off.
40 kg on the bar · per side: 10 — 20 kg bar + 2 × 10
60 kg on the bar · per side: 20 — 20 kg bar + 2 × 20
80 kg on the bar · per side: 25 + 5 — 20 kg bar + 2 × 25 + 5
100 kg on the bar · per side: 25 + 15 — 20 kg bar + 2 × 25 + 15
120 kg on the bar · per side: 25 + 25 — 20 kg bar + 2 × 25 + 25

What it costs
All of it, on the page
The whole of it, on one card, in the same hand the programme is written in. The number below is the number.
Per session is the total divided by the sessions beside it — check it.Programme only is not sold by the session, so it has no per-session figure.A longer month gives you more sessions, not a bigger bill.No membership, no joining fee, no assessment charge, no meal plan.
Who I am
One coach, one room
Second Set is Nadia Rahman. I coach out of a single room in the old print works on Fairfax Road — a rack, a platform, some dumbbells and a kettle. It is not a gym and you will not be sharing it.
I came to this late and badly. I spent four years doing classes and getting nowhere, then somebody put a barbell in front of me and wrote the numbers down, and everything changed in about eight weeks. That is the whole of my sales pitch and it is the entire method.
I am registered with CIMSPA and insured, and I will show you either without being asked. What I am not is a nutritionist, a physiotherapist or a doctor, and when something needs one of those I will say so.
one of them is me — the room takes one person at a time and the door is shut

Both shown at session one without being asked, and on any day after it.

Book session one
If it is not for you I would rather find that out in week one than week six.
- A conversation
Where you are starting from, whether anything hurts, and when you can actually train. All three answers are common and none of them is a problem — they just change what week one looks like. starting from · anything that hurts · mornings or evenings
- A warm-up
No weigh-in, no calipers, no photographs. Nobody is watching you: the room takes one person at a time and the door is shut.
- About four lifts with an empty bar
So I can see how you move. There is nothing in any of it you can fail, and the bar stays empty for as long as it needs to.
- You leave with the card
Week one written down before you go, in your handwriting or mine — the same card the programme above is written on.
Text or ring — 0161 496 0194. I answer between sessions, so it may be forty minutes. If you would rather not ring, the form is fine: it comes to my phone and I reply the same day.
The oldest person I coach is 74 and started at 71. The strongest started with an empty bar. Neither of them was fit when they walked in, and that was rather the point.
